Sleeping Troubles

I have never been a good sleeper.
When I was younger I use to sleep walk...a lot. Thankfully I kicked that habit before going to college. I mean can you imagine if that was still an issue? Unfortunately, I do still sleep talk. In fact, I am an angry sleep talker. A couple of moons ago I actually yelled at my two sisters "screw you!" in my sleep.
What a charming habit.

All that aside I have a hard time sleeping in general. I wake up a lot through out the night, I have a hard time falling asleep and I don't sleep in very often.  I can totally function on 4 hours of sleep, you know, just in case I become a night shift security guard.
Lately my sleeping problems have been due to the heat wave Chicago has been having. I have window unit ac in my apartment and I just can't fall asleep with the noise and the air blowing on me. It puts me in a quite a pickle because when I turn it off it gets super hot and I have to sleep in my undies, spread eagle to cool down.
Don't worry...I am always sleeping alone.

Ohh life.

Just a little Ray LaMontagne to calm my troubles.

Nothing like a good arm grab to make you feel like a million bucks!

I am so proud of you Brendino! I cant wait to see where life takes you...I know it will be quite adventurous! Love you!

City Noises

I love city noises. To be totally honest, I hate silence. Maybe its because I grew up in a full house filled with a lot of commotion but I don't do well with total silence. I find it creepy, my mind wanders (not in a good way), and I get really lonely.
Now don't get me wrong. We all love our alone time. Everyone once in awhile I enjoy when the roomies are out. I can order a pizza, that is the size of my body, and catch up on every every trashy/awesome television show I have missed.
However, the noise is part of the reason that I love, love, love living in the city. I always enjoy hearing the trains go by, cars trying to fit into small spots, people running, and even the occasional drunk conversation as people stumble home from GSP.
The city noises always comfort me.
So I came outside tonight and sat on my front stoop and just chilled.
It was pretty awesome.

I listened to this on repeat, found on this blog. One of my favs.

Tuesday Funk

I find myself to always be in weird funk on Tuesday. Its never a good or bad funk just weird.
I listened to this all day....Love and enjoyed myself a couple glasses of Pinot Noir.
Sometimes a girls just gotta zone out to some soulful love songs.

Side note, I can't believe this little dude is graduating high school this weekend?
Just to clear things up, his teeth don't look like that anymore but he does occasionally sport the koolaide mustache. In his defense I was the one that knocked out his front tooth so I am really to blame for that killer smile.

What the F Grey's Anatomy

I honestly don't know if I can keep watching Grey's Anatomy.
EVERY Season finale involves someone dying in the most dramatic situation ever. I just don't know how much I can take. First George's military exit in the elevator, then the hospital shooting and now the plane crash that killed Lexi!!! I will lose it if they get rid of Bailey.
I think they have to keep adding good looking men to keep the peace.

Something that should have been a bigger deal in the final episodes of this season...Mr. Feeny's return!!

Speaking of sad finales..."Tell us you love us"...tear

Sleeping In

I signed up for this little thing called a half marathon. Well I didn't sign up yet but I did start training this week. My cousin Pattie and I are doing it to raise money for a cause which I will tell you about later when I am begging for your money. I am trying to do my runs in the morning because I after work I can find any excuse to not exercise. Well my alarm went off this morning AND my roommate politely tried to wake me and I still turned it off and went back to bed. I know what you are thinking, this is not a selling argument to donate money to running this race. In my defense I was just really tired.
Aren't we all exhausted by Thursday? Sometimes you need to stay under the covers and mentally prepare yourself for the day. We all know, it's hard out there for a pimp.

My older brother Michael NEVER woke  up on time in high school. I would have to wake him up every morning just so we could get to school on time. Its not that I was in a rush to get to school but it was very important to me to sit in the lobby and socialize before classes started...duh. He was always running so late that he perfected putting on his shirt, tie, socks and shoes while driving. It was pretty impressive.
Oh Michael...this song will always remind me of you.

Mother's Day

This past Sunday I spent the afternoon at my Aunt Nancy's celebrating Mother's Day. It was an absolutely gorgeous day filled with lots of laughs, sun and one super cute newborn!
A special shot out to my gorgeous mother to wish her a Happy Mother's Day!
In case you were wondering...I am not the newborn that she is holding.
Audrey Florence is the newest addition to our family. We call her Audrey Flo to give her some street cred. Is she not the cutest thing you have ever seen?? It was the perfect day with lots of family love.

The 3 Way Convo

Last night my old sister, Mary Kate, and I went to see our younger brother, Brendan, play in his LAX game. It was his senior night so we wanted to go show a little support. I just can't believe how old he has gotten. He has some serious swag people.

Crushin it on the reg

On the way home I started up a great conversation with my other two siblings, Nora and Michael, who are both out west right now about to make the route 66 journey home. It went a little something like this, just try to keep up...

Me: Hey guys! Brendan scored at his senior night! You guys aren't bringing dates to Mks wedding right?

Nora: Yay! Are you?

Michael: Does he have any more game next week?

Nora: Yes. Ignatious we can go to that Micahel

Me: Are you joking?

Michael: K, good

Nora: Why would I be joking about Brendan's lacross game?

Michael: I've tried to go to 2 and they've both been rained out (He is really focusing in on the LAX game)

Me: I thought you were saying yay as in you were bringing a date to the wedding...

Michael: Why are you asking if we are bringing dates? I thought were weren't allowed.

Nora: Are you bringing a date bridge?

Me: hahaha no we aren't. No I am not for sure.

Nora: Who would you bring?

Michael: Ok, I am really confused now

Me: I just wanted to make sure we all weren't because I don't want to look lame.

Nora: Are you seeing someone? (She thinks this my secret way of saying I have a boyfriend...)

Me: No not at all

Michael: What the heck is going on? Why are we even having this conversation.

Me: Omg this is a misunderstanding. I'm still single and I'm not bringing a date to the wedding.
(The first step is admitting it right?)

Nora: Okay that was weird

Michael: Ok, good...well sorta good.

Yes Michael, sorta good.  I think this explains why all three of us aren't bringing dates to the wedding but at least we won't look lame.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I Gave Up

Lately I have been trying to live a very healthy life. Obviously to feel better both mentally and physically but also, to be honest, to lose weight. I am not going to beat around the bush about this, if I could eat Taco  Bell often and be a size 4...I would.

In case you haven't picked up on this is previous post, my sisters wedding is in June and I am just dying to make a Pippa debut. In order to do this I have been eating a lot more vegetables and trying to regularly work out. I even have attempted to start going to Core Power Yoga and it's not pretty. I do, however, look better than the man who farts in the front row...or so my roommate tells me.

As much fun as this has been, my healthy lifestyle has me beat and I decided I just can't take it anymore. I think everyday I read about another things I shouldn't be eating. Basically, unless it's straight from the ground, its bad for you in some way.

So last night I gave up. I ordered a deep dish pizza and watched "The Vow". Let me tell you, I don't regret it. Sometimes a girls gotta live a little.

In other news I am seriously debating rocking a pair of hipster glasses.
Maybe something like this pair. Hate them? Love them? Don't care? Let me know what you think!

Oh Monday...

Let be honest, Mondays are the worst. It especially hard to not hate Mondays after you had such a fabulous weekend! I was lucky to spend Friday night on a sushi date with the two roomies and a reunion with Miss. Natalie Malone or, as many fondly refer to her as, the god damn queen (GDQ). Nothing like a night at Nori to begin the festivities of Cinco de Mayo because you know how well sushi fits the mexican theme. I think a phlock reunion in much needed these days.
This is the phlock. Just an FYI, I did not spell that wrong.
Besides thinking about these chicas the rest of the weekend was filled with tequila, trolley rides and karaoke. It was a very successful Cinco de Mayo!

On a side note, my stupid facebook switched to timeline! This is honestly the worst thing to happen to me in a long time. I know what you are thinking, I must have a pretty legit life, right? Lets be real for a second, timeline sucks! I have enough trouble with the profile picture on facebook. You know, finding a picture where I actually look good, or a picture that is funny enough that people think you are hilarious for putting it up and not a weirdo. I mean, I do not need to think of a gigantic cover picture too. I don't have a casual scenic photo in my iphoto library like apparently everyone else does. Oh life.

The Smell of Summer

The two roomies and I received a lovely email today informing us that our air conditioning units would be installed tomorrow to get ready for the warm weather that is headed our way. Thats right peeps, it's going to be 80 up in here! Woo woo! This can only mean that summer really is right around the corner. I realize for most people May always means that summer is coming but for those of us who live in Chicago...you just never know.

I am am overly excited for this summer for a number  of reasons.
  • My sisters wedding. Also known as, Pippa's debut part two.
  • Kirkwood's beer garden
  • GSP's pink vodka lemonades
  • Runs...walks on the lake
  • Our adventures in rollerblading
  • Weekly Annette's trips...the best ice cream in Chicago
Ohh I'm real pumped up after making this list of 6 things that are mainly booze and food. I am really looking forward to nights on the town with these two beauties. Don't worry about that American Flag, we are just really proud Americans.
