Tuesday Song

Who has been watching Girls? Well this past episode was a win in my eyes. I picked my Tuesday Song from this past Sunday episode but it fits perfectly with my sassy, f you attitude right now.

Enjoy!

Job Homework

I was hoping that one of the best things about becoming and adult and getting a job was that there would be no more homework. Well I was wrong. My job is constantly leaving me with homework after hours and believe me it sucks. In theory we should be able to get everything done in an 8 hour day when it comes to work but we just don't. There is nothing worse than being in an office all day and having to come home and work all night. I don't have to work late every night but it happens often enough to make me second guess everything post college and always leave me asking "what am I doing with my life and why am I wasting it?"
 This common right?

Here we go all night. Ouch.

Cold Weather Survival Guide

Who else is sick of the cold weather?! I know I shouldn't be complaining because we have had a fairly mild winter but it has recently gotten mighty cold in Chicago and it makes it difficult to be an active member of society. Everyone seems to be really tired, crabby and just not at a 100%. After spending so many years dealing with the cold months of Winter I have come up with my one guide of surviving the winter blues.

1. Commit to a TV series
Winter is a great time to get started on a TV series that you have been wanting to watch. Right now I highly suggest watching the first season of GIRLS because is hilarious but if not, some others I recommend committing to are The Wire, LOST, Friday Night Lights and Scrubs.

2. Try new restaurants
No one likes to leave their apartment when it's cold out but trying a new restaurant is a great way to avoid becoming a bear in hibernation... both physically and mentally (mostly physically). You don't have to wait outside, deal with a crowd, or hold onto your coat all night. Plus its totally acceptable to have a drink or 5 while out to dinner if your in that kind of mood.

3. Style your hair or just wear it down...whatever works for you
While I definitely start to resemble a walking corpse during the winter months I have found that by doing my hair everyday it makes a huge difference. Lately I have been wearing my hair curled to work and people are acting as if I recently lost 20 pounds. It's a self esteem booster when you are feeling low about covering your winter muffin top with a baggy sweater.

4. Invest in cute sweats
During the winter months us ladies tend to wear a lot of baggy sweaters and leggings which is just a socially acceptable way to wear sweats in public. Investing in some cute sweaters makes you feel like a functioning member of society instead of someone who is homeless.

5. Don't be afraid to stay inside and hibernate
If you truly don't want to venture into the cold there is no shame in staying in and ordering a pizza. You may put on a few pounds and start to resemble a hairy fungus but as long as you get to work every day your doing okay. One day at a time in the Winter...one day at a time.

I hope everyone is staying warm!

Tuesday Song-Crabby

Today is the first day of the work week and it truly was a rough one. I woke up last night with terrors of work and slept a total of 2 hours. It was a hard day to say the least. I am trying to file my taxes right now but I think I have the worst Internet in Chicago considering I pay monthly for it. It is also 10 degrees out. Needless to say nothing is going right today besides the fact that I got Chipotle...winning.

Here is an oldie but goodie.

Week End!

Yahoo it's Friday! I'm sure everyone is feeling the happiness that I am with having the long weekend. I don't have any major plans this weekend but I am planning on finishing season 2 of The Wire. Me and the rommie are borrowing the seasons from a girl I work with and we are totally hooked! Have you gotten into it yet? It's so good and really addicting! I will be honest...it's no Lost but nothing is. Sigh.

I am also going to be checking out this restaurant this week with some old friends which I have been looking forward to trying for awhile. Can't wait!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.

Long Hair Don't Care

When I was younger my parents cut my hair really short and it stayed that way till I was in high school. It definitely traumatized me and now I never cut my hair. I love my hair. I have absolutely no shame in telling people that. I almost always keep it long. On those rare occasions I decide to cut a bigger number of inches off I always instantly regret it.

This being said, having long hair can also be a huge pain in my a**! (I swear a lot) It takes a fairly long time to look decent and as a result I wear my hair in a lot of pony tails and braids. I have fairly thick/wavy hair so most of my pony tails and braids are messy. Lucky for me messy braids are in right now. Feel free to start referring to me as trendy. I stumbled across a braid/pony tail combo on pinterest that I decided to try today.
It's half fishtail! It gives a pony tail a little more style! What I really like about it is that my arms don't go numb. A fishtail braid always takes a long time to do, especially when you have super long hair like me. First world problems right there.

Tuesday Song!

What is it about the winter that makes it so hard to get out of bed? It got expecetionally cold in Chicago this week so every morning has been a real chore to get out from under the covers and into the shower. Don't worry though...I haven't stopped showering.

Last night I spent a lot of time editing some pictures form over the holidays and it made me realize how I need to take so many more pictures. So this is a warning to everyone who hangs out with me (all 15 of you... ha!)...my camera is going to make a lot of appearances so get your game face on.

This song has been played on repeat lately. Enjoy!

The Brosnans Are Headed to Ireland!

One of the most exciting things to happen over the holidays was that my parents surprised us with a trip to Ireland! We will be officially headed to the place of ancestors May 26th and we cannot be more excited about it. Like so many Americans, my family is very Irish, so it is only appropriate that this is our first European vaca together. I am sure I will come back with plenty of stories and memories to share!
The official invite made by TBone! Blurry but memorable.

Holy Flu

So apparently the flu is spreading like wildfire right now. It is officially and "epidemic" which is terrifying. I really hope I don't get it but I won't lie to you...I didn't get the flu shot. I am going to try to live an extremely healthy life, including getting lots of sleep, eating right and exercising to avoid the flu. It will be my experiment to see if the natural lifestyle really does work. I also think I need to avoid people for awhile till this whole epidemic dies down. That's okay though because I am looking a lot like this these days....eyebrows, sideburns, awkward hair curl, and all.

Laugh

It has been rough getting back into the swing of work this week after have two very short weeks. Especially since I started it off with a bang on Monday watching the ND game. It was one of those nights where you intend to have one beer and then stay out till 2. Oh well. The night was full of really good laughs.

Speaking of good laughs....

This is one of my favorite pictures from NYE this year. Two of my siblings just cracking up with each other.

A good laugh is one of the best things. The kind of laugh that has you almost crying and gasping for breath. I know that doesn't make laughing sound fun at all but I have a feeling you all know what I mean. I hope you all have one solid laugh this week.

Week End!

It's finally Friday! For a short week everyday has really dragged on. I have been really looking forward to laying low this weekend. I feel like a grinch saying this but I am so happy that I have no holiday plans this weekend. I love the holidays but its an intense week of all sorts of binging and my body, soul, and bank account need a break. I plan on doing a lot of laundry, cleaning, and lounging this weekend. Not to mention resturant week just opened up so I am super pumped to make some reservations!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Congrats to Matt and Steph!

My cousin Matt and his girlfriend Steph got engaged over the holiday and we could all not be happier about it! Steph has been around for a couple years now so we are so lucky that we have gotten to know her so well and she is going to make the perfect addition to our family! The best part is...these two are getting hitched in New Orleans! Woo woo! Lots of love and congratulations to both of you!

2013

It's officially 2013 and I've got a good feeling about this year people. I have never been one to make real resolutions, or at least not any that I ever keep, but I think I will focus on taking this year day by day and really enjoying it.  Even though 2012 was a great year and I have so many amazing memories, it is time to put 2012 behind us. Bring on 2013!
