Tuesday Song

I woke up feeling restless and bored with my routine. I think we all have days like that.

It's a Avett Brothers day.

Happy Tuesday!

Golden Birthday

Friday I turned 26. It was my golden birthday so I decided to treat myself and take the day off. Woo woo! A nice relaxing day with my mom and sister was just what I needed, especially since we had quite the celebration that night. In my family we have a marathon of birthdays starting June 20th and ending with July 26th. My brother-in-law's birthday is the 24th and he turned the big 3-O this year so my sister threw him a pretty awesome surprise party Friday night! It was the perfect way to spend my birthday. Even though the celebration was for my brother-in-law I was still surrounded by all my friends and family and I got plenty of my own birthday wishes! My sister was even sweet enough to get me a gluten-free cupcake! I am one lucky lady.

Haming it up.
So far 26 is off to a good start. I decided that this is my year so deal with it.

Driver License Renewal Shenanigans

Since my license expires Friday I decided I could no longer put off the DMV trip. After much discussion around getting my license renewed and being assured by a number of people that it would be a fairly quick and painless process I decided to quickly dash over at lunch today.

Remember how my life is a joke?

Chicago has this wonderful express DMV making it really easy for people to get their basic renewal, stickers or duplicates done fast. For a normal person you hand over your old license and they hand you your new one. I was only waiting in line for 20 minutes when they called my name and I quickly ran to the counter. After handing him my license I was told that not only would I have to take a vision test but also a written test which could not be done at that facility. My response "Are you F****ing me?" He told me that there is a chance that I could have been chosen at random or the I had too many violations in the past 8 years either way I had to go the dreaded DMV across the street.

I don't think I need to really explain why I hate the DMV because I'm pretty sure everyone gets it. It's basically one of the sadder places to spend an afternoon. After getting my number I sat and waited. I tried to cram because I'm pretty sure I'm going to fail this test considering I NEVER drive. When I finally got called I made my way to the counter and ended up passing on my first try!!! The man behind me clapped! (He was waiting to take it for the second time)

Sadly, I did have to retake my picture. I did apply a lot of bronzer so I think I look decent.

Happy Hump Day!

This would have been my Tuesday Song if I had gotten it together. Don't judge me...it rocks.

The Prince is Born

The weather in Chicago has finally cooled down and it looks like we have a gorgeous week ahead of us. While this weekend was very low key it was nice to relax since the next couple weeks should be busy. We have some birthday celebrations coming up and some of my besties will be in town so laying low was probably a good idea.

This weekend I was able to cheer on some of my cousins who ran the Rock and Roll Chicago half marathon this Sunday! Woo woo go runners! Even though I dressed really athletically I assumed people didn't think I ran the race until I was out in the sun for one minute too long and started dripping sweat. It really made me feel like a million bucks when a runner came up to me and told me where I could get some snacks for after the race and I had to explain to her that I didn't run but just sweat. Oh life.

In other news the new Prince was born today so that kept me pretty preoccupied through the day.

The countdown is on peeps...5 days to soak up being 25.

Happy Monday!

Sometimes You Need to Hold a Baby

Lately I have been feeling like I need to just hold a baby. You know when you just get a little overwhelmed and exhausted and you know that holding a baby will make you feel so much better. Maybe its just me but I find that holding a baby just helps to put things in perspective. No matter how crappy things get you can look at a baby and just know that things move on. Babies are a good reminder that life is fleeting and changing and that you should take it one day at a time but to also find something good in every day because the days always ends.

My cousin Annie and her husband Matt welcomed their second daughter Dottie Jane Lunkes earlier this month and I was lucky enough to hang out with her and her big sister Audrey tonight. Just what I needed...some baby love.

I am still working on getting a handle on my lens but I got okay shots tonight.

Dottie Jane aka snuggle bug
Dottie is all about the snuggles. When she falls alseep in your arms she makes the softest coos and sometimes smiles and your heart melts. She is a beautiful baby and I could not be happier for Annie and Matt and their newest addition.

While you gotta love a new baby snuggle its can be quite an adventure to spend some time with a busy 1 year old. Audrey Flo is still adjusting to her baby sister but has mastered the soft kiss on the forehead special for the baby that she likes to give everyone. She also doesn't sit still for 1 minute. Not one. Moms rock it.

My evening with the girls was just what I needed to give me some peace.
I hope everyone else had a good Thursday and found something comforting.

Kids Get It

For such a modern country I feel like there are so many backwards people who live in it?!
Recently Cheerios debuted a commercial. A really really sweet commercial about a little girl who is looking out for her dads heart health.

Apparently the commercial received such aggressive and negative backlash for having a mixed raced family they pulled it from youtube.

A company took the time to see how kids felt about the video.

The way those kids react just makes my heart smile a little bit. The fact that most of them didn't even notice the race of the family and that it just wasn't an issue when pointed out gives me hope.

Just something to brighten your afternoon. Happy hump day everyone!

Tuesday Song

I recently watched the movie 10 Years.  I actually enjoyed it because I love cheesy movies like that. It made me very nostalgic about the high school days and I couldn't help but imagine what my ten year reunion would be like. There was one particular scene that I melted a little bit at I have been loving the song.

Enjoy the cheese.

Summer Hours

My company has summer hours. You can work from 8-5 Monday- Thursday and then you can leave at noon on Friday as long as work permits it. I secretly hate summer hours. I always feel this pressure to do it and it never really works the way I want it to. I rarely get to leave at noon so I just end up working way more hours. Most Fridays I am even more exhausted from having to get up earlier that I don't want to enjoy the half day. I know I sound like such a curmudgeon right now. Summer hours are pretty sweet when you have Friday plans or you are trying to leave early on a Friday and you don't have to take off any work. So its a nice option that my company offers. I appreciate the gesture. But sometimes a girl just wants to go to a spin class in the am and not have to rush to get to work on time. Okay who am I kidding, I just really don't want to get up any earlier to go to work. I know what you are thinking...total first world problems. But if I can;t complain about my luxurious world to the 15 people who read this than what's a girl to do?

In other news I joined the library this weekend! I ended up getting another piece of mail so I was able to prove that I was a Chicago resident. I am officially on the waiting list for the 5th Game of Thrones book. I sat on my deck this weekend and read the 4th book so I only have about 100 pages left. I also have massive massive sunburn. I almost cried this morning when I tried to get in the shower and the curtain touched my thigh. I am pretty crisp.

I hope every one's Monday goes quickly.

It never stops being funny.

My Library Dilemma

Apparently in Chicago you need to jump through a million hoops to join the library! I plan on finishing the 4th Game of Thrones this weekend so I need to get on that waiting list for the 5th one! I am going to attempt to get a library card this weekend and I am anxious about the process. Honestly the library is snobbish. You have to whisper while you are in there and they make it quite the process to rent a book. You have to show them a million forms of identification just in case you don't live in Illinois. What are they so afraid of? That someone from Indiana is going to rent a book. Like you aren't good enough for the library...psshh.  Get over yourself  library.
I think Amy Phoeler captured the Library perfectly.

I am really looking forward to getting a card so I can just rent the sh** out of some books and show those snobs whats up. Fun reading lists for 20 somethings.

Monday Grind

Nothing worse then a Monday after a 4 day weekend am I right?! After such a great weekend it's hard to be productive at all especially when its raining and humid.

The weekend was filled with family time and catching up with an old friend. Plus I got to celebrate Bab's birthday!

Unfortunately, I was shooting with a new lens this weekends and I wasn't happy with how any of my pictures turned out. But this one was pretty good!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe fourth!

Getting Old

I just realized that my license expires this month. I remember when I turned 21 and 2013 seemed so far away and that I would be so old when I had to get it renewed. Well the time has come and it has left me with an odd feeling in my stomach. I also have to go purchase a slip today  so basically I am feeling super old right now.

Whateves. I am sure 26 is a pretty sweet year. Plus the slip will allow me to wear so many things that are see through. Win and win.

Happy 4th everyone!

Brosnan Boys Birthdays

The Brosnan birthday extravaganza continues! This weekend we celebrated Brendan's 19th birthday and today is Tbones birthday!

I could not ask for a better younger brother than I get in Brendino! He always knows how to make you laugh with his goofy grin and silly stories. He is one of the good fighters. Full of passion and not afraid to show it. Brendino is the best thing to happen to the Brosnan family and we definitely wouldn't be the unit we are without him.

Where or where would I be without Tbone! Us five kids lucked out with having the best Dad. Sorry guys it's true. Tbone has supported us and loved us through all of life's craziness. I know we haven't made it easy on him but he handled it like a champ! Thanks Dad for all the wisdom, kinds words and endless love you have given us.
First time the went 9 years earlier.
I think they look better now!

I am one lucky lady.
