Winter in the Spring and Bathroom Tears

Did you know that today in Chicago it is currently 26 degrees out? And we are suppose to get snow tonight? And its March 14th? And Chicago had a record this winter for so many consecutive days without snow? So this totally makes sense. Grrr. The cold is really cramping my style. I decided to wear a bright neon shirt to work today which is my way of giving the weather the bird. Work has been unusually stressful and I ended up crying in the bathroom yesterday. I had one of those day where I kept tearing up and finally around 4:45 I just went into a stall and broke down. Crying is sort of my way stress relief.

So today I am starting over. Instead of tossing in the towel and to giving up on the week I am going to start over. Today will be fresh and better. (Fingers crossed). I am going to not focus on how bad the beginning of the week was but try let go and make the end of the week better. After all St. Pattys day is this weekend and I need to be in high spirits for one of the best days of the year.

Here is to dreaming of warming days.

Antique Tacos

One of my besties also lives in Chicago and unfortunately we don't spend enough time together. She is busy being an adult who owns property, is madly in love and teaches the youth of America while I am busy contemplating my life choices, eating pizza and getting into Downton Abbey. We are basically the same person. We were able to get together last night and spend some much needed time together stuffing our faces with Mexican food.

One of the things I love about the Chi is that we have some of the best restaurants. Depending on your mood there is a number of different places to try. Personally I am always in the mood for Tacos! Plus I have this belief that I would win an eating contest when it comes to tacos. A little secret...one time I ate two Chipotle burritos. It was a bet but I legit had no problem doing it. I am not overly proud of that accomplishment.

Last night Lisa and I decided to check out Antique Taco in Wicker Park. Not only was it a 10 minute walk from my house, meaning it will be frequently visited, but it's delicious! One of the tacos actually had bacon on it...bacon people. We also tried the chili with cheese curds on top. I know...how authentic. Plus we got a pint of the Rosemary margaritas. Let's just say it was a very successful meal. If you ever happen to be in the Wicker Park hood you definitely need to check it out and invite me.

March + Snow + Tuesday Song

Living in Chicago my whole life you think I would get use to the snow in March but I still haven't. I am not someone who hates snow but I just appreciate when it comes at appropriate times of the year. When March rolls around I am always ready for some warm weather. Unfortunately we are in the middle of snow storm. WTF.

The miserable weather is really starting to test people. Not only are people smiling less and less but everyone general attitude is a big F you.  Commuters have less patience, work seems to drag, and bringing your giant down coat to a bar is harder and harder. Plus at this point you have most likely binge watched most TV series you have been wanting to see.

Luckily, the warm weather is just around the corner and soon enough there will be plenty of days spent bumming around the city, day drinking, and having to worry about losing less items at a bar.

I discovered this song on another blog I follow and it became an instant fav. Enjoy!

Wasting Some Time This Week

Luckily this week went by really fast! It is restaurant week in Chicago and I tried two new restaurants this week which was a nice break from the routine sweet potato fries that I make every night. When I discover how to cook something that is all I will eat for a solid two weeks till I learn to makes something else.

I was also really busy figuring out a way for Starbucks to start offering flavored coffee. Truth be told I am a total DD girl (in coffee only). Dunkin's french vanilla coffee actual warms my heart when I drink it. The other day at Starbucks they were offering a "Vanilla Blonde" and my excitement overtook me and I quickly ordered one. I was very upset when I had my first sip and realized they only gave you blonde with a shot of the vanilla syrup...sick. Needless to say I couldn't drink much of it and emailed Starbucks in anger.

"Starbucks is currently selling their Vanilla Blonde roast which is obviously just a shot of vanilla in the coffee. It taste terrible. I don't understand why Starbucks has not mastered flavored coffee. Every other coffee shop has managed it and flavored coffee is delicious. Especially for people who take their coffee black. Changes Starbucks...changes."

Not only did no one reply to my email but I didn't even get some sort of gift certificate...what the f is that all about? In all seriousness I can't understand why Starbucks doesn't offer flavored coffee like Dunkin Donuts. If you are going to have the audacity of being so conveniently located no matter where one is at in the U.S. you might as well be kind enough to give us black coffee drinker some options.

I also did some other things this week like work but clearly this was a priority.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your week was less stressful than mine! ;)

Something to remind us 20 somethings that we are all in this together.

Pop Of Color!

My apartment has been feeling very blah lately and I  have been meaning to spruce it up for awhile.  Last night the roomie and I made a trip to Target and we found this blue table to give our apartment just the pop it needed!

It looks perfect underneath our hanging wine rack and give our place a much more welcoming feel! We found some other odds and ends to really brighten the place up and I am surprised at how much of a difference it makes. My next project to tackle is my bedroom. I am a terrible sleeper and I keep reading that you need to make your bedroom a comfortable place to help you relax. I hope me changing up my bedroom puts the bedroom gods in on my side!

Tuesday Song

After getting sick Monday morning I decided I needed to get back on my gluten-free kick.If I only eat gluten once a day it makes a HUGE difference. I hit up Trader Joes during my lunch and got all gluten-free products including gluten-free sliced bread so hopefully I start to feel better again!

Who else is thrilled by the Destiny's Child reunion at the super bowl?!

I stayed home sick today and spent it in bed getting some much needed rest. Did anyone have a favorite super bowl commercial?  I know everyone loved the the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial but come on...it was no Christian the Lion.

I will leave you with my favorite!
YOLO peeps.
