Abby Moments

So I sucked big time this month with my blog but since Abby is officially one month old I needed to capture and store some memories. These aren't the best shots but I am happy that we have something to remember the day by.

I promise I will do better next month.

This was the day Abby met her uncles and a whole bunch of other crazy relatives...

Looking fresh with her bow!
Major side eye to Uncle Michael...yikes!
Uncle Brendan.

Aunt B and Uncle Brendan.
Look closely, Abby is totally sticking her tongue out at her parents!

Four generations.

Sixth great-grandchild.

Snuggle bug!

ISFP...Oh Brother

Monday, September 9: Take this short personality test and respond to your results.

I started reflecting on this topic with know that I don't 100% agree with personality test. Of course some of it is true but I also think a lot of our personalities can be situational. You can never really tell how you are going to react until you are actually experiencing something. However, as I continued to read about my own personality I realized how aligned I am with some of these finds. I also have started to realize some changes that I need to make in order to be happy person as an ISFP...Introverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving.

Here are some things that stood out to me about being a ISFP

Extremely Perceptive: I tend to have to know everything about someone or a situation to get a full understanding of a current situation. To me all the little details give me a better understand of who people are and why things are the way they are. Source found here.

Need space and time apart: As much as love being part of a big family, having different social outlets, and multiple acquaintances I also value my alone time. After a prolonged time in certain situations I need to step away and have some time to myself. To decompress, zone out, and think. People who really know me know that after many days together I shut down. I get quiet, overwhelmed and exhausted. All I need to recuperate is just a little alone time and then I am completely re-energized. Source found here.

Detailed Oriented: I think my family is going to be the most surprised to see this but I also think they have a boxed view of who I am am, like everyone does of their family members. When it comes to getting thing done, I get them done. I can remember all the pieces of the puzzle and make things come together. I pay attention to the little things and know how important all the details are when it comes to getting things complete. Source found here.

Take life seriously: While I do like to think that I have a lighthearted and carefree side to me, I also have strong beliefs and values that I stand by. I can over think things when it comes to my beliefs and values and I want to see the meaning behind so many things. Sometimes I take thinks too seriously and can get stuck in a thought process, however I am realizing it just who I am and needs to be balanced with the rest of my life. Source found here.

Luckily I don't take everything so seriously...

The Strangers...NEVER EVER AGAIN.

Friday, September 6: A story about a time you were very afraid.

I tend to get scared really really easily so instead of focusing on every time I think someone is in my apartment I will just tell you about the last scary movie I watched that still haunts me. Take this post as seriously as you want...but just know, this is extremely serious to me.

Let me start by saying unless you enjoy scary movies, never ever ever watch The Strangers.

My friend Mike and I decided to watch The Strangers one summer home from college. I really don't like scary movies and I didn't know the impact this movie would have on me otherwise I would never have agreed to watch it. I should have know better when it starts by telling you that it based on a true story... Without spoiling the movie I will just tell you that 86 minutes later I was at the opposite end of the couch with my hands over my eyes, sweating and crying. Mike loved it.

I wish that was it but about a week later I was with my girlfriends and one of them had the brilliant idea to put it on. I literally threw a temper tantrum. I think I stomped my feet at one point and shouted "NO" like the mature 20 year old that I was. That night ended with me plugging my ears and I rocked on the couch till it was over.

This movie still haunts me. Sometimes when I am alone (I am alone a lot) my mind wanders to scenes from that movies and my heart starts instantly beating. It have to turn something on to distract me and start repeating "it was only a movie, it was only a movie" That was the last scary movie I ever saw.

I like to say I live my life with no regrets...but that is not true...I definitely regret seeing The Strangers.

GOT Advice

Thursday, September 5: Pass on some useful advice or information you learned and always remembered.

I sort of hate advice. I feel like everyone gives a whole lot of it and most of the time its not what you want to hear. Its probably a lot more important to just live life and figure it out as you go, but I definitely don't do that. Being as most people in my life don't hesitate to weigh in on your life its hard to choose just one piece of advice to reflect on. Instead I am going to pass on some wise words from George R. R. Martin...

“Bran thought about it. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?'
'That is the only time a man can be brave,' his father told him.”

I written a couple times about my struggle to be brave and this just really nails it. That and the fact that GOT is just awesome.

Be brave. Winter is coming.

One Major Road Trip

Wednesday, September 4: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do?

I know taking three months off sounds incredible to most people but for me it's incredibly overwhelming. I'm not someone who spends a lot of time committing to one thing. I don't have a huge hobby or a major life goal that I am trying to accomplish. So if I did have three months off I would take a giant break and just enjoy life. I would go on one major road trip across the US and try to just see it all. Each day would be for me and doing what I want to do. I would sleep in, eat whatever, drink a lot of beer and just enjoy having no plan. There are so many places that I would love to see in the US on this road trip from national parks, major cities, and coastal towns and I would love to do it on my terms. No rushing and no agenda just a long peaceful drive.
