4:00 AM Wake Up Call by the CCAC

I had the pleasure of waking up at 4:00 am this morning to help set-up a display that I volunteered for months ago. It was one of those things that you sign up for at the time thinking it wont be that bad and then the night before you really really wish you hadn't. It wasn't that bad, but, lets be honest, no one wants to get up at 4:00 am on a Monday. In fact, I think most of us would sleep the day away if we could.

The display that I helped set-up was for the Chicago Children Advocacy Center (CCAC), which deals with abused children in Illinois. Every year they set up a display in Chicago to raise awareness on the number of abused children in Illinois. This year the main message was "I am a voice for 3,000." This was to spread the word about that 3,000 estimated number of cases of abuse that go unreported in Chicago. To do this we set up rows of about 3,000 stuffed animals to represent the children that suffer. Despite the early morning and chilly weather I am really glad I got involved. The display turned out really good and I am hoping that it caught at least one persons attention.

Unfortunately all I have our really crappy iphone pics but here is something to give you a general idea of what it looks like. To find out more information on the CCAC please check out their website at www.chicagocac.org. On a side note, wouldn't I make a great spokespersons?

And Here We Go Again!

Okay so I know I have totally said this before but, I am back! Woo woo! Well just for the time being. I needed a little break from the blogging world because I didn't have anything to say. Super lame on my part. Not to get anyones hopes up but I still don't really have anything to say. I am hoping this will just be a fun way to document my twenties as I start to accomplish the 30 things I am apparently suppose to know by the time I turn thirty. Thanks Glamour.  FYI, regardless of what that article says, I am never going to feel like I made it by walking around with an umbrella I am not ashamed of. They are actually a huge hassle to bring with you on any sort of public transportation, and we are all embarrassed when they flip inside out and as you try to desperately get it to back to normal you end up soaking wet. Umbrellas suck.

Anyways, in present time, I am getting all geared up for my older sister MaryKate's wedding in June! We just celebrated her finals day of being single in Nashville with all her lovely bridesmaids, friends and family. There were lots of laughs, drinks and dancing. I ended up leaving Nashvegas with no voice and 2 pairs of cowboy boots...things got rowdy. I think it was a great preview to all the fun we will have on the big day! I hope everyone is looking forward to Pippa round two.

A Little Info

Hi!

My Name is Bridget and I am 25 years old living in Chicago. I graduated college in 2010 and since then have been dealing with, what I am told is normal, the total unsettling feeling of becoming an adult.

I am lucky that I live in one of the best cities in the world and I try to take full advantage of that whenever I can. I am constantly surrounded by my ever growing family who drives me completely up the wall but also support ALMOST everything I do.

This blog is a way for me to document special moments, deal with the ups and downs of being in my 20s, and give myself a creative outlet.

Thanks for stopping by!
