Tuesday Funk

So as you all know my stomach has been a royal pain in my a** for most of my life and currently I have been taken some active steps to eliminate these issues. A lot of this involves doctor appointments. At my most current appointment, where I cried, my doctor ordered me to do a stool sample. I honestly just ignored him with that request, knowing that was not going to happen, and kept asking questions. Upon leaving I had to go and get some blood work done and while sitting in the chair in walks a totally babe who also need to get some blood drawn. It could have been the best "how did the two of you meet" story, but as I was casually daydreaming about this, over walks a nurse with rubber gloves and a cup.

It was almost as if everything started moving in slow motion. Before I could tell her that wasn't happening she started slowly, but loudly, explaining to me how to take a stool sample. Just so you know I am basically knee to knee with this guy so I am not sure there was any way for this to happen without him hearing anything.

As she kept talking, my neck to the my forehead was turning bright red. To make matters worse the babe next to me was so clearly uncomfortable he just kept looking at his feet and tapping his toes  As she turned the conversation to what I should do if anything was "runny" I literally grabbed everything out of her hand and just said "got it."
Needless to say I did not end up meeting the love of my life that day.

My life is a joke.

Doctor Doctor

Today I found out the worst news ever...my gallbladder is not inflamed. Okay so maybe it is not the worst news ever but it did bring me to tears in the doctors office. I know how ridiculous this may sound but I have been dealing with terrible stomach issues for a long time so I was hoping that this was going to be the solution. Unfortunately, it was not. Life, right?! Hopefully with some more test I will eventually be able to solve my stomach mystery but for now I am just going to make some everyday changes to make me feel better.

In the meantime I am looking for a good quote/picture/painting to hang in my bathroom.

Sibling Chats

With only two out of the five of us kids living in Chicago my siblings have gotten into a pretty solid habit of group text messaging. It's a fun way for us to, not only keep in touch, but also a way to remind each other that we are thinking of one another. Plus its a quick way to let each other know when Babs is having her moments of craziness.
We do love her.

Don't get me wrong, my siblings and I aren't always nice to each other. Let me remind you that there are five of us so when one of us is mad at someone you can find someone else to lean on, making it very easy to stay mad. :) Plus all 5 of us are stubborn, opinionated, passionate and smart. It has made for some colorful conversation.

The thing that I love about those group text is that its a constant reminder that even though we have our moments of totally hating each other we always move on. That's the thing about siblings, you can have moments that you think they are crazy, where you are totally embarrassed by them, and even moments where they hurt you but you never stop loving them. No matter what in happens they are always part of you.

Plus if you got a text like this every so often you would be happy you had them around too...

Kirk: Actual quote. "One direction is kind of alternative." - Mary Kate
MaryKate: I was simply saying they aren't a traditional boy band
Michael: What makes a boy band traditional?

Nora: remember how Tom got in trouble by his sister in law for pooping at this brother's place?
MaryKate: Ha ha if that happened in our family no one would ever be talking to each other
Bridget: Poor Tom
Michael: I don't think I ever heard that story but that is so weird

Nora: Just spent 50 bucks at chili's for two of us. We're about to stuff our fat faces...you better believe there's wings in there

Michael: How come I miss out on everything?
Bridget: Because your always at concerts
MaryKate: you were in school for like 8 years
Bridget: And your not even a doctor...fail...jk

Nora: What was Brendan's Christmas list when he was little:
1. Casido aka tuxedo
2. Lake house
3. tempurpedic mattress and what else?
Oh yeah Rolex

Notice Brendan has yet to reply to any message. We let it slides since he is our favorite.
This might explain my love for long hair.

Tuesday Funk

Lately my life has been all work and no play. Don't worry, I am not about to get all Shining on anyone but I have been feeling a major disconnect lately. I have been too busy to get anything done. For example, I have not had toilet paper for three days. Yes you read that correctly. I ran out of toilet paper and every time I meant to go buy more something just sorta came up. Now I know what you are thinking, but I have had some extra tissues on hand so it has not gotten all Amazon style yet. That is what happens when things get busy you just can't find the time for those everyday errands. I am not complaining though.  I enjoy a busy life as long as I can find those small moments of alone time. Not to mention Fall has totally arrived and has brought a much cooler temperature to my liking.
Plus I can finally start rocking all my fall clothes again.
Lets be honest, Summer is just not my season
Fall Kicks

In case you were wondering my lovely roommate ran out and got me some TP tonight while I was in class. Luckily it was before any BM emergency if you catch my drift...

Recent Updates/Thoughts

I recently started taking a GRE prep course one night a week. By recently I mean I have gone to one class so far. The first class was a tad overwhelming to say the least. It started with me realizing I don't remember any math and it ended with me realizing that I have a million hours of work ahead of me. I think enrolling in this course is really appropriate to my current quarter life crisis. Ya know, just in case I wasn't freaking out enough about where my life was going.
The big test day is November 10th so I have right around two months to get my sh*t together.

Along with studying for the GRE I am currently dealing with some gallbladder issues. After spending a number of nights sprinting to a bathroom to get violently ill (sorry for the visual) I decided it was time to see a doctor. I had an ultrasound this morning for about an hour and I am currently waiting for the results. Unfortunately, those technicians can't tell you anything about what the results are. They were able to tell me that I had a "good looking liver." If only that is what I what I needed to land myself a rich hottie. Not that those are what I am looking for in a guy or anything.

Last random idea of the day...I am really into the show "How to Make it in America." Get into it.

Freakin Weekend

Here she is again. The oh so awful Monday. Don't you just hate her sometimes?

Mondays are always the worst when you had such a great weekend! One of my bfs, Meggy, came home this weekend and it was a much needed reunion. We spent most of our time together talking over each other and catching up on everything that has happened in the past month. It was awesome.

On top of getting to  have a total gab fest with a good friend I also won a $50 gift certificate to Paris Club. Paris Club is one of my favorite places to eat so I was super pumped when my named was called. I mean I literally did a jig and fist pumped. If you haven't gone and you are living in Chicago...go! Along with all that I also spent a good amount of the weekend spending a million dollars on some goodies to redo my bathroom. I will share some pictures when its all done to show you the changes.
Check my sparkly gold soap dispenser... :)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

How Embarrassing

I hate the feeling of being caught wearing the same outfit twice. I know we all wear the same outfit over and over again but you don't want anyone to know about it! One time I was looking at pictures with a friend from a previous night and we came across a picture I was in and I was wearing the same outfit that day that I was in the picture. I was totally mortified!

Another time my family got together with some old friends and as I went to give someone a hug he said to me "You are wearing the same outfit that you were wearing last time I saw you!" Honestly, how I am suppose to respond to that?!

I am not sure why I get so embarrassed but I do. It's obviously inevitable considering I wear a lot of the same outfits over and over again but I still feel a little less cool every time I realize it. I definitely don't consider myself to be a fashionable person or to have exceptionally great taste but for some reason I still get that pit in my stomach of being totally uncomfortable in my own skin.

Tomorrow is my company's summer outing at the Columbia yacht club and when looking at pictures from the previous year I noticed I was wearing the exact outfit that I was planning on wearing this year. My life is a joke.

I Don't Want To Hear It!

Today, while working not at all intensely, a couple of my work friends and I discussed a number of issues in the world ranging from how mean hippos are (it's true...look that s**t up) to the end of the world happening.

I am sure you have all heard about the theory of the world ending in December 2012. In fact, many of you believe it. Whatever your thoughts on the theory I am choosing to ignore it. I tend to fall on the side of "what you don't know can't hurt you" and I feel very strongly about this when it comes to the end of the world.

Personally, if the world is going to end just don't tell me. I would rather be casually enjoying a cup of coffee reading a good book when the times comes than sitting in pure chaos sobbing, puking and sweating. A friend of mine said, "Don't you want to know to say goodbye to good friends or family." Ummmm No! I am a 25 year old, single, female who has no idea what they are doing on a daily basis. I have enough emotional conversations in my life as it is. Come on.

I can only imagine the craziness that will be happening that day in December. I am just going to take it one day at a time and not think about the world ending. I'm hoping that life will have me so distracted I won't notice what is going on till it's over.

Cleveland Rocks

Woah caos! Before getting finally getting back to my new apartment I made a quick trip to Cleveland with the parents to visit my bother, Michael. By quick trip I mean a 6 hour drive filled with lots of conversation about me needing to join match.com....#hadtoholdmypee.

Even though the drive was long, the weekend was really fun and very relaxing. I know Cleveland gets a really bad wrap but there are a ton of little spots throughout the city that are really cool. Who knew Cleveland was on a huge lake?! At one point in the weekend I said to my brother, "I feel that the lake should be talked up more. Chicago is always known as the city on the lake but apparently so is Cleveland." Michael did inform me that people did know that Cleveland was on the lake as the "mistake on the lake."
 Poor Cleveland.

One of my favorite areas of Cleveland was Little Italy. We grabbed dinner there on Saturday night and sat outside drinking red wine, eating big plates of pasta and listening to some old school Italian. It was very classy of us, minus Babs using her sunglasses to read the menu. Her glasses are prescription.
T-Bone Style.

It was a lot of fun to see where my brother is currently living. (He tends to swap homes often)

In other news one of our oldest family friends got engaged. Congrats Katie and Neil! I could not be happier for both of you!  I hope everyone had a great labor day weekend. Happy Fall!
